FAQ
How random are the strings?
The tool uses your browser's crypto.getRandomValues with unbiased sampling, not Math.random. If your browser lacks the Web Crypto API, it cannot generate strings.
Does Unique characters prevent duplicate strings?
Unique characters prevents repeated characters within each string, not duplicate strings in a list. Length cannot exceed the number of available characters.
Can I use spaces or Unicode in Custom characters?
Custom characters accepts printable ASCII without spaces, so Unicode characters are not supported. Duplicate characters are ignored, and this field replaces the selected character sets.
Are generated strings stored?
Generated strings stay in your browser and are not stored. Your settings, including Custom characters, are saved in localStorage; site analytics receives interaction events with only the tool slug.
Can I use this random string generator for passwords?
For account passwords, use the Password Generator. This tool does not guarantee that each string contains every selected character type.
