FAQ

Can I edit JSON in the tree?

You can edit JSON in the input editor, but not in the tree or Code view. Inputs up to 1 MB update the tree as you type; for larger inputs, click View or press Ctrl/Cmd+Enter.

How large a JSON file can I open?

Files larger than 200 MB are rejected. Your browser can still run out of memory with a smaller file; if that happens, try a smaller input.

Is my JSON file uploaded?

Your file is read and parsed in your browser; the tool sends no network request containing your JSON. Only settings are saved in localStorage, while transfers to another JSON tool temporarily use sessionStorage.

Why is Table disabled?

Table requires a non-empty array containing only objects. Select that array in Tree, or use one at the root; mixed arrays such as [{"a":1},2] cannot be shown as a table.

Why won't my JSON open?

The viewer requires strict JSON, so comments and trailing commas produce an error instead of a tree. Check the line and column in the error panel, then use Fix it in JSON Validator → to investigate.
