FAQ
Can I alphabetize a list by last name?
Set Sort by to Last word. John Smith is sorted under Smith, with ties broken by the full item. This uses the final word, so it does not recognize multiword surnames as a unit.
How do I remove duplicates while sorting?
Turn on Remove duplicates to keep the first item among entries that compare as equal. With Case sensitive off, Apple and apple count as duplicates; Natural number order also makes item 01 and item 1 equal.
Why is my space-separated list treated as one item?
Auto does not detect spaces as separators. Set Input separator to Space to sort individual words; use New line instead if your items contain spaces.
Can I alphabetize accented names or other alphabets?
Accented letters sort next to their base letter by default, and Cyrillic follows its own alphabet order. Choose the appropriate Language to apply its alphabet rules, such as Swedish for å, ä and ö after z. Auto (browser) uses your browser's locale, not the page language.
Is my list uploaded or saved?
Your list is sorted in your browser without being uploaded, and the list is not saved. Option settings, including custom separators, are saved in your browser's localStorage.
