FAQ
Does this converter support extended ASCII?
This converter supports only codes 0–127, not extended ASCII codes 128–255. In Text → Codes, accented letters, emoji and non-breaking spaces trigger a non-ASCII error; in Codes → Text, numbers above 127 are rejected as outside the ASCII range. Use the Unicode Converter for characters outside ASCII.
Why does ASCII binary output have 8 digits?
ASCII codes need only 7 bits, but the converter pads each binary code with leading zeros to 8 digits. A becomes 01000001 and a space becomes 00100000. In Codes → Text, you can also enter 7-bit binary such as 1000001.
How do I find a character in the ASCII table?
Use Search the ASCII table with a character, a decimal code such as 65, a hex code such as 0x41 or 41h, or a name such as line feed. Click a code cell to copy its value.
Why are some decoded ASCII characters invisible?
Control codes (0–31 and 127) are kept as raw characters, so they may not appear as visible symbols in Result. Line feed and tab still work as line breaks and tabs. An info note lists up to 5 other control characters found in the output, such as CR (13).
Is my input uploaded or saved?
Conversion and table search run in your browser, and the tool's code sends no network request containing your text. Your input is not saved; Base and Filter rows settings are remembered in this browser.
