Hi, José
FAQ
What is the difference between a character and a code point?
A code point is a Unicode number; a visible character, or grapheme, can contain several code points. For example, é can be U+00E9 or U+0065 followed by the combining accent U+0301, even though both look the same.
Why does an emoji become two \u escapes?
The \uXXXX format uses UTF-16, so code points above U+FFFF become surrogate pairs: 😀 becomes \uD83D\uDE00. Choose \u{X} (JS ES6) under Output format for one escape per code point.
How do I find hidden characters in text?
Open Character table and check the Char column for labels such as ⟨ZWSP⟩ for a zero-width space, ⟨NBSP⟩ for a non-breaking space and ⟨RLO⟩ for a bidirectional control. The table shows the first 1,000 code points.
What is the difference between U+00E9 and C3 A9?
U+00E9 is the Unicode code point for é; C3 A9 are its UTF-8 bytes. Character table lists both the code point and the UTF-8 bytes for each character.
Is my text uploaded or saved?
Conversion runs in your browser, and the tool does not send your text to a server or save the input. It saves only option settings and whether Character table is open; Mode is not saved.
