FAQ

Does Base32 need = padding?

The decoder accepts Base32 with or without padding. If you include = signs, their count must match the encoded length. When encoding, clear Padding to omit them.

Why is my Base32 string rejected as having invalid characters?

Standard Base32 uses A–Z and 2–7, so 0, 1 and 8 are invalid. Base32hex uses 0–9 and A–V instead; the tool suggests that alphabet when your input matches it and identifies invalid characters by line and column.

Why won't an unpadded Base32 string decode?

Missing padding alone is not an error. The decoder rejects impossible data lengths and non-zero unused bits in the final character, so a truncated or altered string can still fail with an error naming the problem.

Is my input uploaded or saved?

Encoding and decoding run in your browser, and the tool does not upload or save your input. Only option settings are saved locally; Google Analytics receives tool events without your input or result.

What is the input size limit?

Inputs larger than 5 MB are not processed. If a result exceeds 5 MB, Result shows only part of it, but Copy and Download include the full result.
