What's the difference between punctuation and symbols?
Punctuation removes Unicode punctuation marks, including #, @, %, &, and *. Symbols include currency and math signs such as $, +, =, and ©; use Emoji to remove emoji sequences.
How do I keep specific characters like # or @?
Enter #@ in Keep these characters to protect them from Punctuation, Symbols, Emoji, Digits, and Remove these characters. This list does not protect against URLs, Email addresses, HTML tags, Invisible characters, or Non-ASCII characters.
How do I remove line breaks from text?
Turn on Remove line breaks to join lines with spaces. To delete blank lines without joining the remaining lines, use Remove empty lines instead.
Can I remove accents without deleting non-English letters?
Use Accents to plain letters (café → cafe) to strip combining accents from Latin letters while leaving other scripts unchanged. Letters such as ø, ß, and ł stay as they are; Non-ASCII characters deletes characters outside basic ASCII rather than transliterating them.
Is my text uploaded or saved?
Cleaning runs in your browser, and the tool does not upload or save your text. Your options are saved in localStorage; the production page also sends Google Analytics tool-use events without your text.
