FAQ

Why does my MAC address show no vendor?

A locally administered address may be randomized for privacy and have no registered manufacturer. A block assigned after the database snapshot may also be missing.

Can a MAC address identify a device, its owner or its location?

The lookup shows the organization an address block is registered to. It cannot identify a specific device, its owner or its location, or reveal the hardware MAC behind a randomized address.

Can I look up just an OUI?

Enter the first six hexadecimal digits to look up a 24-bit OUI. If the result names IEEE Registration Authority, enter the full MAC address to check for a more specific assignment.

Where does the vendor database come from?

It uses the IEEE Registration Authority public listings for MA-L, MA-M, MA-S, IAB and CID. The current snapshot is dated October 1, 2026; its date appears below the results.

Is my MAC address sent to your server?

Your MAC address is not uploaded or stored; the lookup runs in your browser. The page downloads static database files selected by one byte of the address prefix, so the server can see which byte-file was requested.
