FAQ

Can I find out who owns a domain?

You can see the registrant’s organization, region and country when they are published. If those details are hidden, the result shows Redacted for privacy. The tool cannot reveal redacted owner data.

What is the difference between RDAP and WHOIS?

RDAP returns structured JSON, while WHOIS returns text. This tool queries the official registry’s RDAP service first and falls back to WHOIS if the domain extension has no RDAP service.

What does clientTransferProhibited mean?

The registrar has locked transfers to another registrar. The Status list includes a plain-English explanation and an ICANN reference link for each EPP status.

How do I check when a domain expires?

Look at Expires for the date and Expires in for the time remaining. Some registries do not publish an expiry date. In that case, Expires shows Not provided.

Can I use this tool for an IP WHOIS lookup?

This tool accepts domain names, not IP addresses or ASNs. If you paste a URL or email address, it extracts the domain for the lookup.
