FAQ
What happens if my list won't divide into equal parts?
In Number of parts mode, part sizes differ by at most one item. With In order, the larger parts come first. With Round-robin, items are dealt out like cards. If you request more parts than items, the tool creates one part per item without adding empty parts. In Items per part mode, only the last part can be smaller.
Can I split text by character count or word count for ChatGPT?
This tool does not split by character, word, or token count. It splits lists by item count or number of parts, or splits each line into columns.
Does this work with CSV files that contain quoted commas?
Separators inside quoted fields are still treated as separators, so CSV files with quoted commas will not split correctly. Use it for simple delimiter-separated text without separators inside fields.
How large a text file can I split?
Uploaded files must be 50 MB or smaller. Pasted text has no fixed size limit, but very large lists can slow the page because processing runs on the browser's main thread.
Is my list uploaded or saved?
Splitting happens in your browser, and the tool does not upload or save your list. Option settings are saved locally. Site analytics receive tool events without list content.
